THE KIEFER PROJECT
"Becasue people are worth the investment"
Why 3 Start Students™:
Character development curriculum is founded on the belief that every student, regardless of their academic record, athletic ability, behavior chart, or qualifying label the world attaches possesses three common traits: value, potential, and purpose.
The Mission:
To empower the next generation to make positive impacts in their world by equipping them with the resources that will help them discover their value, fulfill their potential, and live with purpose.
What is 3 Start Students™
The 3 Start Student™ is a curriculum that was strategically designed to help students discover they have tremendous value, realize they have potential, and live with purpose through hands-on activities that relate to a main talking point for each lesson. We have seen that this method helps the main ideas become more tangible for the students ensuring better retention and internalization.
Envisioned Future:
Through the benefit of the 3 Start Student™ curriculum the envisioned future is one of peer leaders, higher academic success, minimized classroom disruptions, raised self-esteem, greater responsibility among students, lower instances of bullying, and an overall improved sense of wellness among the students of the next generation.
Proven results
Through a four-year pilot program at a local (to the developers)elementary school that implemented the 3 Start Student™ curriculum, we have many stories of the impact it can have on students. Here are just a few:
-
A 5th-grade student who had always had D’s and F’s raised his grades to C’s and B’s after going through the 3 Start Student™ curriculum. When asked what changed the student replied “I finally believed I could do better.”
-
Midway through the curriculum, a 4th-grade student during one of our discussions informed the group that he had no friends. Instantly everyone from this diverse group began reassuring him that they would be his friend.
-
A 4th grade student had finally received an award named “Terrific Kid” at the end of the school year. At the ceremony, the teacher described a lot of the changes she has seen in this student over the course of the school year. Changes such as making better choices with his friends, being more responsible with his school work, and being more of a leader in the classroom. These were ideas taught through the 3 Start Student™ curriculum.
Who can teach the curriculum?
The 3 Start Student™ curriculum was designed to be implemented by anyone willing to invest in the next generation and has gone through the Certification Course. It completely maps out what to do for each lesson such as the talking points to be discussed, a complete list of supplies, substitutes for supplies that may not be available, and ways to adapt for space.
Do I have to have a big facility to use the 3 Start Student™ curriculum?
The 3 Start curriculum can be adapted to just about any space from a big gymnasium to a small classroom.
How do I get a license to use the 3 Start Student™ curriculum
To get a license agreement to use the 3 Start Student™ curriculum you must go through and pass a Certification Course.
How many students can be in a 3 Start students group?
The recommended size of the 3 Start Student™ group is a maximum of 15 students with two leaders. It is our experience that in a group over 15 and less two leaders lose a lot of the individual attention needed to make the appropriate relational connections necessary for the curriculum to be effective.
How long does it take to get through the curriculum?
The 3 Start Student™ curriculum consists of 12 lessons. While there is no specific time frame indicated the frequency of meeting times can be determined by the 3 Start Student™ curriculum facilitator. It is recommended that there be at least one lesson and no more than two lessons per week.
What will my students learn in the curriculum?
The 3 Start Student™ curriculum is split into 3 sections with each of the three sections focusing on one of our core words: Value, Potential, and Purpose™. In each of those sections, the students will learn principles such as knowing where their value comes from, choosing healthy friendships, taking care of their responsibilities, and what it takes to make a difference.
What ages can the curriculum be used for?
The 3 Start Student™ curriculum can be adapted for just about any age. Our pilot program was for grades 3-5 and has been used in after-school settings up to grade 8.
What is the cost of the curriculum?
